We are online. And I will tell you why it took us a while.
As of today, hiloimpact.com is online. It may sound like one of those standard announcements, but for me it carries a different weight, and I want to explain why.
Hilo Impact was founded in 2022, and was previously called DMTR Consulting. The name change was not a superficial rebranding. It came after gaining greater clarity about who we are and what we want to do: guide companies toward informed, scientific, and accessible sustainability decisions. Three words I try not to waste, because we have built our way of working on each of them.
For a long time, we did not have a website that truly represented us. But at a certain point, continuing without a place to tell our story becomes a limitation, not a choice. So we decided to take the time to do it properly, in Italian and English, because we operate between Europe and Africa and I wanted those who encounter us to immediately understand where we come from and where we are going.
On the website you will find the projects in which we participate as research partners funded by the European Union. PROSPER, on bioplastics recycling. WARM and AGRECOFARM, on circular economy and agroecology in West Africa. FOODTURE, on measuring the impacts of the food system. We are among the few independent consulting firms in Italy working in this way, inside the projects, not on the margins, and for me this is not just a line on a résumé: it is the meaning of the work.
There is a simple conviction underlying all of this: sustainability works when it is real. Not when a report is compiled, not when one appears sustainable. When better decisions are made, markets are opened, funding is accessed, something lasting is built. We work at the intersection of scientific rigor and pragmatism, and we are interested in companies that want to be sustainable, not just appear so.
The website also has a space for writing, and this is the first piece. We will not publish often. We will publish when we have something useful to say.
If you have a company that wants to make sustainability concrete, if you are looking for a partner for a European project, or if you simply do not know where to start, contact me. Let us discuss it.
